The Evolution Of The Camera
By Amanda White, Fri Dec 9th

Cameras have come a long way since they were first invented in1827. During 1827, Joseph Nicephore obtained the first fixedimage which led to hundreds of years of ever-changing camerasand photos. There are many types of cameras currently on themarket, but there wasn’t always a number of cameras to choosefrom. Below you will find a timeline of specific events, whichhave occurred throughout the years, which have contributed tothe evolution of cameras and photography:

1837 - Louis-Jacques-Mande Daguerre teamed up with JosephNicephore to develop the first permanent photograph. This was acrucial starting point in the history of the camera.

1850 – By 1850, Daguerre had produced over 70 photostudios in New York City alone.

Early 1940’s – In the early 1940’s the first colorphotographs were produced. Cameras which produced color photosusing a number of dye-related mechanisms were introduced andgrabbed the attention of individuals all over the world.

1948 – In 1948 the first Polaroid camera was sold to thepublic. Polaroid cameras are cameras which have the ability toinstantly produce a photograph. This was the first type ofcamera of its kind and was an innovation which was unlike anyother.

as well as individuals who study underwater creaturesor SCUBA dive.

1986 – Disposable cameras were first introduced andbecame very popular, very quickly. Disposable cameras can bepurchased for a very low price and are thrown away after theroll of film is produced. The materials from those cameras arethen recycled and used to make other cameras of the same style.

1981 – The first digital camera was produced in 1981 andis the most recent addition to the world of cameras. Digitalcameras provide more features than any other camera everproduced. These have home printing options, video options andprovide you the opportunity to delete photos which you do notwant printed. Digital cameras hold photos on a memory card, which allows one camera to hold over a hundred photos. Thesehave become increasingly popular over the past few years.

There’s no doubt that the evolution of cameras will continue toevolve for many years to come. Photos can last a lifetime andare a great way to remember the most important moments in ourlives. There’s no way to tell what’s going to further enhancethese cameras, but whatever it is, it will likely add to thealready amazing features these items hold.
