Cameras have come a long way since they were first invented in1827. During 1827, Joseph Nicephore obtained the first fixedimage which led to hundreds of years of ever-changing camerasand photos. There are many types of cameras currently on themarket, but there wasn’t always a number of cameras to choosefrom. Below you will find a timeline of specific events, whichhave occurred throughout the years, which have contributed tothe evolution of cameras and photography: 1837 - Louis-Jacques-Mande Daguerre teamed up with JosephNicephore to develop the first permanent photograph. This was acrucial starting point in the history of the camera. 1850 – By 1850, Daguerre had produced over 70 photostudios in New York City alone. Early 1940’s – In the early 1940’s the first colorphotographs were produced. Cameras which produced color photosusing a number of dye-related mechanisms were introduced andgrabbed the attention of individuals all over the world. 1948 – In 1948 the first Polaroid camera was sold to thepublic. Polaroid cameras are cameras which have the ability toinstantly produce a photograph. This was the first type ofcamera of its kind and was an innovation which was unlike anyother. 1960 – In 1960 the first underwater camera wasintroduced. This type of camera was originally produced for theU.S Navy, but has become a very popular type of camera for manyunderwater lovers. They are used worldwide for families onvacations
